Dr Lee Jones, Naïve use of economic sanctions is ‘irresponsible’

Dr Lee Jones spoke to Society Now about the imposition of economic sanctions and the effect they had when applied in Myanmar and South Africa. He said: “Imposing sanctions has often been driven by a naïve belief, unsupported by any evidence, that making people in target states worse off will cause them to rise up and bring about political change.”
