Professor Tim Bale, who recently joined the School of Politics and International Relations, writes in the EUROPP Blog that the Prime Minister should not bow to pressures to replace David Lidington as Minister for Europe. He describes Mr Lidington as "undoubtedly one of the smartest members of the parliamentary Conservative party and the coalition government"’ and assesses he is "unpalatable" to Conservative Eurosceptics, because of his "moderation and pragmatism"’.
