What do I need to enrol online?
When you are completing your Online Enrolment you will need to provide the following documents:
Evidence of identity and nationality - EEA (including UK) and Swiss nationals
The UK left the European Union on 31 January 2020. EEA and Swiss national students arriving in the UK on or before 31 December 2020 may be able to apply to stay in the UK under the EU Settlement Scheme. Read more about the EU Settlement Scheme and find out how to apply on the QMUL Advice and Counselling Service website. Students arriving on or after 01 January 2021 will have to apply for immigration permission. Read more about Queen Mary and Brexit.
If you are a European Economic Area (including the UK) or Swiss national, you must upload one of the following valid documents:
- passport; or
- European National identity card
OR any of the following documents, when accompanied with additional photographic identification:
- Full birth certificate, which demonstrates your nationality
- adoption certificate, which demonstrates your nationality
- certificate of naturalisation
Acceptable forms of photographic identification for use in combination with the above certificates include a provisional or full photocard driving licence issued by an EU country or an Armed Forces Identity card.
If you do not have any photographic identification, please contact the Student Enquiry Centre as soon as possible for advice
This guidance is very important as the university may not be able to fully enrol you if you do not present us with a form of identification as outlined above.
Evidence of identity and nationality (Non EEA or Swiss nationals)
- If you are not an EEA or Swiss national, you will need to provide:valid passport; or
- valid travel document; or
- application registration document
Evidence of your immigration permission or status
The following does not apply to:
- British and Irish Citizens
- European Economic Area nationals who arrive in the UK before 31 December 2020
After you arrive in the UK, our Immigration Compliance Team will contact you and ask you to provide evidence that you have immigration permission or a status that permits you to study your course at QMUL. If you are unable to provide evidence that you have immigration permission or a status that permits you to study your course at QMUL, you will be de-registered.
For examples of the documents you will need to show in specific circumstances please see the international students section of our website.
IMPORTANT: If you are already in the UK and are not confident that your current immigration status allows you to study at Queen Mary, please send evidence of your immigration permission (usually a sticker or stamp in your passport or a residence card) and the details page from your passport to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. If you are sending us a copy of your residence card, please send us copies of the front and back of your card.
