Daniel is completing his PhD at the University of Reading and is funded by the South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership, researching activism in Croydon, south London, in the twentieth century. His work focuses on the politics of place and space, bringing attention to the ways in which activists have experienced and understood their immediate surroundings and especially ‘the suburbs’. Building upon his studies into Black youth activism in Croydon, his future research will focus on the history of police monitoring units and related groups in London in the 1980s.

Daniel is also a member of the editorial team for the left-wing online magazine New Socialist.
