Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, his project explored Sheltered Employment and Disability in the British Welfare State during the period 1944-1979. His primary research interests continue to be the development of sheltered employment for disabled people and the notion of inclusive economies. With a background in education, he is also interested in the teaching of the subject of History and the promotion of historical knowledge and skills in schools. Research
