Published:

Congratulations to Prof. Christian Beck, Head of the Dynamical Systems and Statistical Physics Group within the School of Mathematical Sciences, who has recently been elected new Chairman of the Statistical and Nonlinear Physics Division(link is external) of the European Physical Society, EPS(link is external)!

The EPS(link is external) is a not for profit association whose members include 42 National Physical Societies in Europe, individuals from all fields of physics, and European research institutions. As a learned society and representing more than 80,000 physicists in Europe, the EPS(link is external) engages in activities that strengthen ties among the physicists in Europe, focusing on issues of concern to all European countries relating to physics research, science policy and education.

The objective of the Statistical and Nonlinear Physics Division(link is external) is the advancement of research in statistical and nonlinear physics, the dissemination of key results in this area to the general public, and the promotion and coordination of interdisciplinary research. The division aims to form an umbrella organization for coordinating research in statistical physics, nonlinear physics, complex systems and interdisciplinary applications within Europe and worldwide.
