Clinical Tutor

Expression of Interest for 3 HSTs for the role of Clinical Tutor

We invite you to apply for the role of Clinical tutor, to teach Final Year Barts students on their A&E placements in Mater Dei Hospital.

We are seeking to appoint 3 HSTs to teach Year 5 students.  One student will be allocated to each tutor, for four week long placements, which will run 6 times throughout the academic year. The first placement commences on 30th August 2021.

Each student should attend A&E for at least 30 hours a week, the timetable to be decided by the clinical tutor.  Students are expected to attend a similar schedule as their tutor which includes working a shift pattern, including night shifts. Students should be actively involved in patient care as members of the clinical team.

Students are fully vaccinated and have completed full PPE and H&S training.

Students are divided into 6 groups.  Their placements are 4 weeks long.  The dates of their placements are as follows:

Group 1                30th August 2021 – 24th September 2021

Group 2                27th September 2021 – 22nd October2021

Group 3                25th October 2021 – 19th November 2021

Group 4                22nd November 2021 – 17th December 2021

Group 5                10th January 2022 – 4th February 2022

Group 6                7th February 2022  – 4th March 2022

Tutors will need to complete at least 3 rotations to be awarded a T1 contract and the remuneration for this will be €1510.  If tutors complete all 6 rotations they will be awarded a T2 contract which will total €3020.

Remuneration is directly from Queen Mary Malta via bank transfer.  Clinical tutors will be remunerated according to the terms of the UMASA collective agreement and will be awarded honorary lecturer status with Barts and the London School of Medicine, Queen Mary University.
