Centre for Computational Biology Showcase Awards

The LSI CCB is a new cross-faculty Centre dedicated to promoting and developing QMUL’s research and teaching in the field of computational biology. Our definition of this field is broad, from algorithm development for genome analysis, through to simulation and modelling of biological systems, to quantitative geography and digital health.

As part of this effort, we will be providing funding for activities that showcase QMUL’s research in this area. Researchers from across the College are invited to submit proposals for funding of activities that will help promote their computational biology research. An obvious showcasing activity would be presenting relevant work at a conference, but more innovative proposals are most welcome.

Proposals should be submitted in the form of an email to by Friday 11th May 2018, 5pm at the latest.

The email, which should not exceed 400 words, should clearly explain the proposed activity, how it will help promote the Centre, and specify the amount of funding requested.

Proposals will be judged according to value for money, and with the overall intention of promoting a broad range of the College’s computational biology research within the remit of the LSI (see Outcomes will be notified on Friday 18th May and funds must be spent before 31 July 2018. Recipients of showcasing awards will be expected to acknowledge the Centre for Computational Biology in their showcasing activity, and present their work at one of the regular CCB workshops if they have not already done so.

Applicants must show how their proposal is helping promote QMUL’s computational biology research. PhD students and postdoctoral fellows are encouraged to apply but need the support of their line manager.
