3 June 2016
Time: 1:00 - 2:00pm
Venue: PP1, People's Palace, Mile End
Professor Cheng Zhu will be talking on "Molecular biomechanics and mechanobiology" in a seminar organised by the Institute of Bioengineering (IoB) on 3 June.
Professor Zhu, who is Chair of Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University (USA), will use three examples from the work of his laboratory to illustrate molecular biomechanics and mechanobiology:
- measurements of molecular stiffness and use of stiffness measurements to determine molecular conformation;
- concurrent visualisation of conformational changes of single molecules on living cells and intracellular calcium in real-time;
- biophysical regulation of receptor-ligand kinetics and protein unfolding.
