London life

View of London from Queen Mary

London is an incredibly exciting place to live, and is ranked the best city in the world to study in by QS Best Student Cities 2022. Your time at Queen Mary will give you plenty of opportunities to explore, while benefiting from the safety and community of campus life.

The main Mile End campus is uniquely situated on the edge of central London.  A short journey to the west will take you to the heart of the City of London.  To the east there is Stratford and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (opened for the London 2012 Olympics, the park celebrates its 10th Birthday in 2022).  To the South is the Thames and London’s Historic Docklands and to the north you have leafy Victoria Park, trendy Hackney, genteel Islington and more.  Our Medicine and Dentistry campuses at Whitechapel in London’s vibrant East End and at West Smithfield and Charterhouse Square in the City of London, plus our Postgraduate Law campus at Lincoln’s Inn Fields, make Queen Mary truly a university of London.

At Queen Mary, we are in the heart of London but London is also at the heart of what we do.
— Rich Evans - Faculty Liaison Librarian - Humanities and Social Sciences
Studying, living and working in London is an opportunity of a lifetime. Queen Mary couldn’t be better placed to allow you to explore, discover and make memories in the best city in the world. My one rule: never turn down an opportunity to try something new! You never know where it may lead you...
— Cameron Storey – Humanities & Social Sciences Faculty Student Engagement & Support Officer and former Queen Mary Student
