Second Year High Achievers

Participants needed for a project investigating the transition from first year to second year of university

Students sitting at a table together

The Library Teaching and Learning Support Team is looking to develop its training and guidance for second year students. We understand that the second year presents different challenges and opportunities than the first year, including assignments that have more significance to the final degree. We are also aware that there is often a focus on creating interventions for students who are struggling academically, overlooking those who already doing well and are looking to excel through their degree.

Are you eligible?

  • Are you in your second year of study at Queen Mary?
  • Have you achieved high marks (65% or equivalent) in some or all your Semester A assignments?
  • Are you willing to share your experiences about what you found to be different in second year (how you adapted, what worked/didn’t work for you) in order to help other students to succeed going forward?

Requirements:

  • Participation in one, one hour focus group with a group of your peers, led by a research intern and a member of Queen Mary staff. You will be able to choose a group that works best for you.

What’s in it for me?

You will get the chance to discuss ‘what works’ with other like-minded students from across the university, which will help you to reflect on and improve your own approach to studying and university success

As a thank you for you participation, you will be offered a £10 gift voucher.
