This course introduces complex concepts in finance at a level that is appropriate for law students to master them . The focus of this course is on the analysis of valuation models, their application in different economic situations, and the benefits/consequences when investing or conducting business, both locally and globally. Tools and basic models that help in understanding the appropriate usage of different valuation models as used in different situations will be introduced and examined in order to assess risk and be able to manage it appropriately. Through the course analysis, students will develop a thorough understanding of the models that influence and eventually determine the relationships between risk and return when evaluating assets. Legal cases are used to analyze actual situations and explore different possible solutions when dealing with risk and other financial concepts, facilitating an acceptable legal determination as to the best selection for various risk exposure. The course will be taught on the assumption that the students have no prior knowledge of finance.
