Professor Sionaidh Douglas-Scott gives oral evidence on acquired rights and Brexit in House of Lords EU Justice Sub-Committee

Professor Sionaidh Douglas-Scott, Anniversary Chair in Law and Co-Director at the Centre for Law and Society in a Global Context (CLSGC) at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), gave oral evidence on acquired rights in House of Lords EU Justice Sub-Committee, 13 September.

Following the result of the EU referendum in June, there is much concern about the consequences of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU on the rights currently enjoyed in the UK by all EU citizens, workers and companies by virtue of EU membership, and similarly on the rights of UK citizens and companies living or operating in other EU Member States.

The EU Justice Sub-Committee, under the Chairmanship of Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws, has therefore decided to inquire into the possible consequences of Brexit on these EU rights.
