Professor Valsamis Mitsilegas took part in a Workshop on Transatlantic Security, Data Sharing and Privacy Protection, organised by the Atlantic Council at Washington DC on 9 July 2010.
The workshop followed up the delivery of keynote speeches by the US Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano, and the EU Justice Commissioner, Viviane Reding and brought together government officials and experts from the US and the EU. The findings and recommendations of the workshop were communicated to high level officials from the US Department of Homeland Security and the European Commission in order to inform forthcoming negotiations on EU-US agreements on privacy and data sharing.
