The Inaugural Lecture of the Annual CCLS Lecture Series in Dispute Resolution will be delivered by Professor Carrie Menkel-Meadow (University of California, Irvine) on the 8 June 2016 at 5.30 - 7.00pm. Registration commences at 5pm. This Inaugural lecture will explore the mediatory process and pertinent issues arising from it including the origins of party controlled decision-making and problem-solving, theories of consent versus command models of decision-making, and the evolution of legal processes. Please join us for a drinks reception after the lecture.
Professor Menkel-Meadow is the Chancellor's Professor of Law and Founding Faculty at the University of California, Irvine School of Law and is also the A.B. Chettle, Jr. Professor of Dispute Resolution and Civil Procedure at Georgetown University Law Center and Director of the Georgetown-Hewlett Program in Conflict Resolution and Legal Problem Solving.
An international expert in alternative dispute resolution, including international dispute resolution, the legal profession, and legal ethics, clinical legal education, feminist legal theory, and women in the legal profession, Professor Menkel-Meadow has written and lectured extensively in these fields. She is the author of Dispute Resolution: Beyond the Adversarial Model (2nd ed. 2011); Negotiation: Processes for Problem Solving (2nd.ed 2014); Mediation: Theory, Policy & Practice (2nd ed. 2013); Dispute Processing and Conflict Resolution (2003), and over 150 articles. In 2012, she published a three-volume set of edited books on Complex Dispute Resolution (Ashgate Press, 2012), including Foundational Processes, Multi-Party Processes and International Dispute Resolution.
The Annual CCLS Lecture Series in Dispute Resolution will explore theoretical aspects of conflicts and disputes, and their various resolution processes.
