  • "Thank you for the invitation and congrats for putting together such a successful programme for the whole week."
Mr Momchil SABEV, Head of Unit, European Commission, Directorate General Taxation and Customs Union, Control of the application of EU legislation and state aid/direct taxation
  • "The Summer Tax Programme was an enjoyable, informative and well organised event. The modular structure was an added bonus for me as I could attend around work commitments without losing context of the course. The calibre of the speakers and the relevance of the topics drew a highly experienced audience, both academically and professionally. The topics were complex but well presented, and the academic discussions from the audience were fascinating. It was heartening to see the experts wrangle with the increasing complexity of international tax law as much as the profession does! All in all, the programme was an engaging and interactive forum which provided a high level of learning and much food for thought. I would highly recommend it to fellow tax professionals and hope to attend more days next year."
Tori Magill, Tax Investigation Director, Mazars UK
  • "The Summer Tax Programme 2014 was very interesting and exceeded my expectations. It not only helped me choose my career path, I also gained a lot of new knowledge in issues of international taxation with which I had hitherto been mostly unfamiliar. For me, the discussion on Tax Treaties was particularly important. I am now using the knowledge gained in London to prepare the Project on Tax Treaties of Kazakhstan. I gained valuable insights on differences in the interpretation of terms used in Tax Conventions of different countries and the resulting tax consequences for taxpayers who make cross-border transactions. I also really liked the mix of participants, including HMRC representatives, tax practitioners and academics. I want to thank Tom O’Shea and his team for their support of our group from Kazakhstan, and for an unforgettable experience."
    Mariya Jayembayeva, KIMEP University, Kazakhstan
  • "As the research assistant of Central Asian Tax Research Center (CATRC), I benefitted immensely from the 2014 Annual Summer Tax Programme. It was a big pleasure and unique opportunity to attend the full five days of intensive international taxation trainings, each of which was devoted to a certain topic. All lectures were given by high-experienced and high-qualified speakers, for instance 12 of them shared their opinions, experience and ideas concerning just BEPS! Each presentation was extremely well structured, planned and focused. Moreover the coffee breaks allowed for further discussion with the speakers, presenting valuable opportunities for me to have a talk with such experienced tax professionals. If I had to put all my impressions in three words I would say that it was very informative, useful and motivating! I would strongly recommend this programme to professionals in the field of taxation and students who have serious intentions to stay in the world of taxation. I would like to thank Dr Tom O’Shea and Dr Renata Ardous for making possible my attendance."
Antonina Tyurina, Central Asian Tax Research Center, Kazakhstan
