George Hinde Moot Competition Final 2015

24 March 2015

Time: 6:00 - 9:00pm
Venue: The Octagon, Queens' Building, Queen Mary University of London, Mile End Road, London E1 4NS

As part of the 50th Anniversary of The School of Law at Queen Mary University of London, we are pleased to invite you to the final of 2015 George Hinde Moot Competition. This competition has been established for over forty years with academic staff and practising barristers playing an important role in judging and coaching, as a result the School has a strong and successful mooting body.

The final is judged by a senior member of the judiciary and in 2015 the School is delighted that Lord Justice Pitchford (Sir Christopher Pitchford) has agreed to oversee the competition. Lord Justice Pitchford is a senior judge of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales.

He was educated at Queen’s College, Taunton and studied at Queen Mary University of London, as part of the School of Law’s first class in 1965.

Sir Christopher was called to the Bar in 1969. He took silk in 1987, the same year that he became a Recorder. He was a deputy judge of the High Court from 1995 to 2000 and leader of the Wales and Chester Circuit from 1999 to 2000. He was a judge of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) from 2000 to 2010 and Presiding Judge Wales & Chester Circuit 2002-2005. In 2010 he was appointed to the Court of Appeal of England and Wales becoming a Lord Justice of Appeal and a member of the Privy Council.
