Collapse / Rebirth: Navigating the Phase Shift to the Post Carbon World

27 February 2020

Time: 12:00 - 1:30pm
Venue: Room 313, Third Floor, School of Law, Queen Mary University of London, Mile End Road, London E1 4NS

The International State Crime Initiative (ISCI) is delighted to announce it will be hosting its second State Crime Seminar Series delivered by Dr. Nafeez Ahmed. Nafeez is an award-winning investigative journalist, international security scholar, bestselling author and Executive Director of the Institute for Policy Research and Development.

Based on his acclaimed documentary The Crisis of Civilization, most recent book Failing States, Collapsing Systems: BioPhysical Triggers of Political Violence and his ground-breaking journalism for Middle East Eye, Vice’s Motherboard, The Guardian and InsurgeIntelligence, Nafeez’s seminar talk will explore the interconnections between global political, ecological, energy and economic crises.

Please join us for ISCI’s second State Crime Seminar Series seminar as Nafeez helps us better understand how seemingly disconnected crises (rise of the far right, Islamic extremism, escalation of climate change, biodiversity collapse and economic volatility) can be understood as symptoms of a fundamental phase shift in a global system experiencing protracted collapse….and the ‘emergence of a new paradigm.’
