About the Role

Project: Defining the role of a novel tumour suppressor in colorectal cancer.

Applications are sought for a Research Technician to support MRC funded research in the Centre for Tumour Biology at Barts Cancer Institute. The postholder will assist the group leader Dr Angus Cameron with research on colorectal cancer biology, to help define a novel mechanism of tumour suppression. Barts Cancer Institute is based at Charterhouse Square, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.

About You

The postholder should have a BSc or equivalent in a biological or related science. Essential requirements for include experience of working in an academic research laboratory, ideally with experience in molecular and cell biology. Knowledge in the field of cancer would be an advantage, as would experience with the management of in vivo models. A demonstrated ability to work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

The work will be based at Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) which provides a thriving and collegiate research environment, based in one of the most vibrant parts of London. The BCI is one of the top cancer institutes in the UK and is furnished with state-of-the-art facilities to support basic and translational research.

The post is based at the Charterhouse Campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 3 years, with an expected start date of 1st July 2023. The starting salary will be on Grade 3, in the salary range: £30,642 - £37,348 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
