About the Role

This is an apprenticeship position.

  • Job title: Apprentice Laboratory technician, level 3 (equivalent to 2 A level passes),
  • Length of contract of employment: 28 months, full-time.
  • Length of training: 18-21 months program.
  • Training: college attendance once every 2 weeks during term-time at the Kingston College, Thursday 9.00 am – 4.00 pm with an hour for lunch as directed by the training provider once enrolled; next training start date: September 2023.

About the Apprenticeship

You will be enrolled with a training provider and spend 20% of your employed time completing learning and development activities towards the achievement of the Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship.

About You

The conditions of employment will be as follows:

Qualifications: Two passes at ‘A ‘level or equivalents, one of which is in a relevant subject (science or mathematics). 5 GCSE (A - C) or equivalent qualifications in maths and English. Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL

Key skills: Evidence of an interest in life sciences

Experience and knowledge requiredN/A as Apprenticeship is to provide new learning and skills.

We are looking for people who are passionate about their own development in Laboratory techniques in Biomedical Sciences.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

You will be working the histology Core Service Department and will be supporting the research of scientists within and outside of Barts Cancer Institute.

The post is based at the Charterhouse square Campus in London. The starting salary will be Grade 2, in the range of £24,761 – £28,948 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
