Profile

Sergi Alonso is a health economist at the Centre for Primary Care and Public Health – Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London. Sergi holds a PhD in Health Economics from the University of Barcelona. Prior to joining the institute Sergi worked as a research fellow at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) in Spain and the Manhiça Health Research Centre (CISM) in Mozambique.

Research

Research Interests:

Sergi's current research interests include: health economic evaluations and health technology assessment, strategies for eliciting preferences, horizontal equity and applied micro-econometrics

Sergi’s work has focused on improving access to effective infectious diseases interventions in low- and middle-income countries in Africa. His work includes evaluating inequalities and inequities in the delivery of health services; the cost-effectiveness of health interventions related to malaria and visceral leishmaniasis; as well as a welfare evaluation of the market for antimalarial medicines in a district of Mozambique.
