Student profiles and Alumni ambassadors
Hi, I am Kelvin. I graduated from Queen Mary with a Law degree in 2013. I am currently working at the Central Bank of Malaysia as an associate legal counsel. I was the President of Queen Mary Malaysian Society, a student ambassador for the School of Law and a student adviser at the School's legal advice centre.
I chose Queen Mary because I was drawn to the well-publicised supportive and friendly atmosphere around the campus and the significance the College places on diversity and inclusion. The lecturers are very committed in their teachings, they inspired me to study laws with a wider perspective. Tutors are extremely helpful and they will take extra efforts to provide first-class learning experience.
Undoubtedly, my experience at Queen Mary has increased my employability considerably. Choosing Queen Mary was definitely one of the smartest decisions I ever made. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to find out more about life as a Malaysian at Queen Mary.
Hi, I am Michele. I am currently in second year of the LLB Law degree. I am also the President of Queen Mary Malaysian Society 2014/2015.
Queen Mary does not only offer me an internationally recognised Law degree, its Law School demonstrates a very high quality of teaching. Other than providing me with a top learning experience, the lecturers' and tutors' personal interests in their subject fields have inspired me to adopt the principle of learning while loving Law, instead of forcefully memorising it.
During my first year, my participation in Queen Mary's Legal Advice Centre, student-led Law Society and Bar Society have given me valuable voluntary experience. It moulds professionalism in me which will help me to succeed in my future career and my applications for training contracts to several top UK law firms are currently going smoothly at each stage.
Queen Mary's campus-based environment definitely deserves the title of Award Winning Student Accommodation for its friendly atmosphere, while containing a huge pool of international students from all walks of life. This further allows me to become an all-rounder by sharpening my interactive skills with international friends.
Finally, the campus is very close to central London and there are never any worries about getting around on the well-developed public transportation in London including extensive bus routes and London Underground.
Undeniably, Queen Mary is one of the smartest choices I ever made.

BSc Economics and Finance
"Believe it or not, I had spent my primary and high school years in the same institution, Sri Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia for 12 years. I lived with my family all my life before coming to Queen Mary, University of London, where I’ve had to become an independent and grown up girl.
My immense interest in the world and people is the reason behind my choice to study this course. Economics provides me with an understanding of the relation between demand and supply which is unceasing, provoking me to debate the rationality of choices we make and the allocation of scarce resources. Finance on the other hand is important as any company’s budget plans are vital to ensure its growth and success.
I chose to come to Queen Mary firstly because it is based in London. However, despite having so many other choices in London, Queen Mary topped the rest as I enjoy living in a city-campus which gives me the best of both worlds. I realised that learning in Queen Mary has made me an all-rounder instead of simply regurgitating textbook facts.
The School of Economics and Finance offer a wide choice of course modules which makes the programmes flexible. The administration staff were very helpful prior to enrolling at Queen Mary and remain so up until this day. The student village is absolutely awesome! Living here in my first year was definitely a great kick start. Not only is it so close to lecture halls and classes, but I had the chance to meet and live with people from all over the world. No wonder it is an Award Winning Student Accommodation!
There are heaps of interesting places to visit from historic buildings to the happening West End musicals. No one should ever worry about travelling around in London as the underground and bus routes are well organised. Moreover, Queen Mary's campus is close to Central London and the upcoming London Olympics venue. Lastly, the people in London are friendly and out going which made it easy to adapt in this city."
