Promoting language learning and linguistic diversity is one of the main objectives of the Erasmus+ Programme.
The Erasmus+ Online Linguistic Support (OLS) will support you to learn the language you need to get the most from the Erasmus+ scheme.
OLS will assess your ability in the language you will study or work in both before and after your placement to measure how your skills have improved. This assessment is mandatory, unless you will be taught or will work in your native language.
The online assessment will score your listening, reading and writing skills in your chosen language according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Only you and Queen Mary will know your OLS results. Queen Mary won’t pass them on to your host institution. Your assessment results won’t stop you from taking part in the Erasmus+ scheme: they will only be used by Queen Mary to assess which students will need linguistic support.
You may be given the opportunity to take a free* online language course before or during your Erasmus+ period. This will be agreed between you and Queen Mary before you begin your placement.
*the course is funded by the EU as part of the Erasmus+ programme.
In addition, you may follow an online language course to improve your language skills. The OLS is available for the following languages:
