Language support (Erasmus+)
Promoting language learning and linguistic diversity is one of the main objectives of the Erasmus+ Programme.
Erasmus+ offer you Online Linguistic Support (OLS) to help you make the most out of your time abroad by learning the language of your host country. (Please note that the OLS is not available to students going on a SEMP exchange.)
OLS will assess your ability in the language you will study or work both before and after your placement to measure how your skills have improved. This assessment is mandatory, unless the language of tuition/work is English or your first language.
The online assessment will score your listening, reading and writing skills in your chosen language according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Only you and Queen Mary will know your OLS results. Queen Mary won’t pass them on to your host institution. Your assessment results won’t stop you from taking part in the Erasmus+ Programme.
Online language course
Following the assessment you may be given access to a free* online language course, which you can make use of before and during your Erasmus+ exchange.
*the course is funded by the EU as part of the Erasmus+ Programme.
The following language are available: Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Irish Gaelic, Lithuanian, Latvian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish.
