Queen Mary welcomes staff for training within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme from any of the participating Programme Countries, with priority given to staff from one of our partner institutions. For staff training within a Programme Country, no Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement needs to be in place.
We are pleased to welcome international colleagues for training visits usually for up to one week for purposes of job shadowing, observation, participation in a Staff Week, transfer of knowledge and good practice, learning from shared experience, acquiring practical skills and discovering new ideas for teaching and learning.
Staff interested in training at Queen Mary should contact their home institution’s International Office in the first instance about their internal procedures and to check if there is funding available to support a visit.
The member of staff should then contact the respective department at Queen Mary where they intend to train, as the visit needs to be arranged with the department directly. Staff are advised to search for a contact via either Faculties, Schools and Departments or the Staff Directory.
The staff member and host department/unit at Queen Mary must directly arrange together and mutually agree on the training programme before the visit takes place. The sending institution within the respective Programme Country provides all contractual paperwork to the visiting staff member. The Global Opportunities Office (GO Office), who manages the Erasmus+ Programme on behalf of Queen Mary, requests confirmation of approved training visits (duly signed Staff Training Mobility Agreement) to be sent to email@example.com.
An incoming staff member should inquire with their home institution if internal application deadlines exist or if a procedure of open calls is in place for selection to participate in an Erasmus+ Training Mobility.
There is no specific deadline set by Queen Mary by when an incoming staff member needs to be nominated (with the exception of a staff training visit in the context of an Erasmus+ Staff Week at Queen Mary).
It remains the sole responsibility of any selected incoming participant preparing for a visit to the UK to 1) determine their individual visa requirements and 2) to secure any necessary visa.

To supplement the Erasmus+ contractual paperwork and for any eventual purposes of a visa, an invited mobile staff member can request for the relevant department at Queen Mary to provide a letter of invitation including:
This letter may be used for a visa application (if applicable), along with a letter that non-EU participants are urged to request from their home/sending institution that a) confirms the anticipated visit and b) serves as proof and duration of employment in the home country.

Visiting staff are encouraged to share any mandatory occupational health requirements (including but not limited to any disability and dyslexia concerns). This will allow the academic department and the GO Office at Queen Mary to liaise with the Occupational Health Service in advance of their arrival in order to make every effort that sufficient support is feasible and available during the visit.
