Profile

I have been Head of Student Academic & Pastoral Support within IHSE since June 2022. Since starting I have been working on a strategic vision for the Student Support Service within IHSE that prioritises

  • Supporting students following disruption from the Covid-19 pandemic
  • Financial support for students impacted by the cost of living crisis caused by inflation and increasing energy bills
  • Creating a culturally competent and inclusive support service, pre-emptive and responsive to the needs of all students
  • Close collaboration with BLSA and the student body we serve

Prior to joining Queen Mary University, I have worked within the HE sector since I graduated with a BSc Psychology from University of Nottingham. I’ve managed a range of student support services including the Mental Health & Disability Service at Kingston University and the Student Welfare Service within University of Nottingham Medical School. I’m passionate about EDI issues and ensuring we create an inclusive culture that empowers students. As an LGBT+ person myself I have a particular interest and expertise in developing policies to support trans and nonbinary students and my previous work in this field has been recognised by Stonewall as examples of HE sector best practice.
