Research Topic: Women of Theatre and the Question of Rights in Paris, 1750-1800

Email: a.c.pedron@qmul.ac.uk

I am looking at four women of theatre -three actresses Marie-Jeanne Riccoboni, Mademoiselle Clairon and Marie-Madeleine Jodin, and one theatre owner, Olympe de Gouges- who became writers. Whilst Riccoboni and de Gouges, mainly wrote epistolary novels for the former and plays and pamphlets for the latter, Clairon and Jodin only printed pamphlets.
My thesis is looking at the rights they wrote about (e.g. women's rights, children's rights and actors' rights), the way they wrote about it (novels, plays, pamphlets) and who influenced them as much as who they influenced.
