Profile

My thesis explores the role of a Hebrew medical text in the late Renaissance. It follows the life and texts of a Jewish physician with artisanal education in the age of medical humanism and the emergence of Jewish doctors with university degrees in order to portray the changing nature of a medical text and physician's authority within a Jewish community.  

Throughout my previous studies in the Czech Republic (Palacky University) and the UK (the Oxford University), I researched the pre-modern phenomena of central and eastern Europe. They included booklore, Jews, their interactions with others, their mobility, book culture, and its intertextuality. These interests then formed a basis of my current project.
