Profile

My doctoral thesis, supervised by Prof. Amanda Vickery, examines the interplay between material culture and masculinity in eighteenth-century England. It explores the relationship between prescriptions of masculine behaviour and attributes in print culture and how, or if, they were practiced in men's material culture.

I hold a BA in English and Related Literature and a MA in Eighteenth Century Studies from the University of York which fuelled my broad interests in eighteenth-century social, cultural, consumer and material history. In Semester One I am teaching on “Architecture in London I 1600-1837”.
