School of History ranked 7th in the UK

Published:

The School of History at Queen Mary is one of the top seven history departments in Britain, according to the 2016 Guardian University Guide (link is external). Queen Mary is now ranked second only to the London School of Economics within the University of London for the study of History.

The School ranked highly on all measures. Our staff-to-student ratio is the second highest in the UK. We have a 97% satisfaction rate for teaching, and we are among the top five history schools in Britain for spending per student. The School of History continues its dynamic development: since the tables were compiled, we have doubled our library budget and announced three new academic appointments.

These rankings are a mark of our commitment to undergraduate teaching, to diversity in our curriculum, all delivered with energy and enthusiasm by our staff. We look forward to building on this success in the years ahead, ensuring that Queen Mary remains one of the outstanding departments in the world for the study of History.
