School of History project wins Public Engagement Award

Published:

The Love in Objects project has been awarded the Richard Garriott Award for best Public Engagement Activity at Queen Mary. The project was designed by Jane Mackelworth, PhD candidate in the School of History, in close partnership with staff at the Bromley by Bow Centre and has been funded by the Centre for the History of the Emotions. Love in Objects works with older people to explore the link between love and material culture. Project members reflected on the importance of precious objects in their day to day lives including keepsakes, treasures, music and photographs and worked with professional artists to make personalised display boxes to house their chosen objects. The boxes and objects are shortly being displayed at a Love in Objects Exhibition curated by project members.
