The historiography of the Holocaust and its aftermath.
Module code: HST7406
Teaching Staff: Christina von Hodenberg
Both the Holocaust and its aftermath are the subject of lively scholarly debates.
This module provides an introduction to the historiography of the Holocaust and to the controversies regarding West Germany's Nazi past.
Recent research emphasises the multi-faceted nature of the Holocaust and differentiates carefully between remnants from the Nazi era and pre-1933 traditions that shaped postwar realities.
In connecting two areas of largely independent scholarship, it draws attention to the continuities and ruptures marking West Germany's new beginning.
