You will study the formation of the National Government and the impact of mass unemployment, to the limited appeal of homegrown fascism and the roots of appeasement.

You will develop a deep understanding of the political complexities of the 1930s for Britain. By connecting the domestic, international and imperial dimensions of the politics of the decade, we encourage you to view these issues in a single analytical frame.

The module places a deliberate emphasis on independent study skills. It also allows you to develop a knowledge and understanding of key historiographical debates.
