HST7000 - History: Approaches, Methods, Challenges

This is the compulsory core module if you are taking the MA in History, and the MA in Modern and Contemporary British History.

You will focus on approaches to the study of the history over the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The module will to equip you with a broad and richly textured sense of the historical discipline in the early twenty-first century.

This module also prepares you for study on their chosen modules. A lecture is given each week by a wide range of the School staff, and this is followed by a seminar chaired by the module director.

Themes covered include politics, political ideas, Marxism, space, the environment, global encounters, microhistory, the body, gender, memory and trauma.
