Keeping you safe at graduation

The health, safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and visitors are our upmost priority. We continue to closely follow government guidance and have implemented various measures to ensure a safe experience for everyone at graduation.

It is the responsibility of all attendees at graduation to follow the steps below. If attendees do not follow the measures below then the university has the right to deny entry to the venue.

All attendees must follow the below procedures.

  • All attendees over the age of 18, must show proof of a valid NHS Covid Pass or an international vaccine certificate accepted at UK border as a condition of entry to the venue.
  • Attendees must obtain a valid NHS Covid Pass either via the NHS App or by obtaining a NHS Covid Pass letter. The government website has step by step information on how to obtain a NHS Covid Pass.
  • You are eligible for a NHS Covid Pass if you are vaccinated with two doses of an approved vaccine, have taken a PCR or rapid lateral flow test within 48 hours or are exempt from vaccination and / or testing on the basis of a medical exemption. Please note a booster dose of a vaccine may also be required once all adults have been provided with a reasonable chance to get one.
  • Please note, the NHS App is not the same as the NHS Covid App.
  • For those who have been vaccinated overseas proof of a vaccination certificate (such as the EU Digital COVID Certificate) can be shown, provided they are accepted at the UK border.

  •  A full list of international certificates which will be accepted can be found on the government website.

  • If you are unable to show a valid vaccine certificate, or a child between the ages of 11 and 17, you must demonstrate proof of a negative lateral flowor PCR test taken within 48 hours of attending the event as a condition to entry to the venue.
  • If you are required to undertake a lateral flow test to obtain a NHS Covid Pass or as an international visitor unable to obtain a NHS Covid Pass then you can obtain a test here. We recommend you take the test as close as possible to attending the event to strengthen the protection testing provides.
  • You must register your test result and show proof of your negative result with either an email or text confirmation. You can register NHS lateral flow tests here.
  • All attendees over the age of 12 must wear face coverings at all times inside the graduation venue aside from when crossing the stage, having professional photographs taken or eating/drinking. At all other times it is compulsory that all attendees and staff must wear face coverings.

  • All attendees follow government guidance on how to stay safe, and do not attend the ceremony if they have a positive test result, have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been informed to self-isolate.

  • All attendees must follow government guidance on travelling safely on public transport to and from the venue.

In addition to the above measures, we will be ensuring adequate ventilation, carrying out enhanced cleaning and providing additional hand sanitiser stations across the venue.

Please note, the university has the right to change protocols for the event in response to COVID-19 at any time and we will continue to communicate any changes to attendees if required.
