We understand that the postponement of graduation ceremonies will lead to the need for more students to apply for re-entry to the UK to attend their own graduation ceremony after their Tier 4 or Student immigration permission has expired. We have therefore provided information below to assist students and their families in applying to enter the UK.
If you need to apply for immigration permission to re-enter the UK for your own graduation ceremony then please follow the advice laid out here by the Queen Mary Advice and Counselling Service.
If your guests (family or friends) need to apply for immigration permission to attend your graduation ceremony, you can provide your guests with an invitation letter from you. Please see the link for advice on how to produce an invitation letter.
Upon booking to attend your graduation ceremony, you will be able to enter passport information for yourself and your guests into the booking information. Your booking confirmation can therefore be used to substantiate your visa application. The Events and Ceremonies Team are unable to provide this prior to students placing their booking at their ceremony. Please see the Queen Mary Advice and Counselling Service website for further information about the process.
Queen Mary University of London can accept no responsibility for rejected visa applications but will be able to offer refunds for tickets of guests if relevant evidence is provided before the day of the ceremony. We are unable to cover any other associated charges in the case of visa rejection and we advise you do not make travel arrangements until you have booked your place at your graduation ceremony and have had your visa approved.
