Top study tips for QMUL geographers
You may have heard about the Succeed Project or even watched some of the online videos featuring some of the geography undergraduates and graduates at QMUL. So what is the Succeed Project and what are its aims?
The Succeed Project consists of a range of online videos, which provide useful tips and advice for prospective university students and incoming new first-year students. The videos provide almost mini case studies from current students on their experience of university, specifically about the academic life. There are also videos, which give you great top tips for succeeding at university.
Some of the online videos include talks on:
- Settling in and managing your time – this video is about Aqeeb’s experience of making friends in the first weeks of university and how to balance social and academic life.
- Understanding assessments and exams – this video is about how coursework and exams are marked, the difference between lecturers and seminars, where to study on campus and top tips for revising.
- Working in the labs – in this video Katharine provides an insight into lab work in the School of Geography.
- Talks on personal experience from Aqeeb, Tanzina, Liam and Katharine.
The Succeed Project was created by the School of Geography and its main aim is to increase student aspirations, widen access to university for students and provide a range of opportunities for current undergraduates. Each of the videos can be found on QMplus, as well as used for study resources. Videos are also available on the QMUL Geography YouTube channel.
I hope you all find the videos useful. As someone who has been featured in a few of these, I believe these videos provide a great insight into academic life in the School of Geography here at QMUL. There are also great tips and advice for current and prospective students in each of the videos so don’t forget to watch them!
