Welcome Week

Published:

Welcome to the School of Geography. Whether you're a new student just starting with us, or returning for your second or final year, below you’ll find lots of useful information and links to help you prepare for the start of term.

Welcome Week 2016 runs from 19-23 September and is an opportunity for you to get to know the university, meet with your personal tutor and fellow students from your course, find out about the Students' Union and the support available to you, and lots more

Be prepared and know where you have to be during the week by checking the schedule for new undergraduate students, returning students and masters students. First years' enrolment is on Monday 19 September from 3.30–4pm in the Octagon in the Queens' Building (no.19a on this map) unless you've pre-enrolled during moving-in weekend. First years' programme introduction/welcome talk is on Tuesday 20 September at 12pm in the Drapers' Lecture Theatre in the Geography Building (no.26 on this map).

Our School has a dedicated team of undergraduates who help new students with the transition from school to university – the Springboards team will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about life at QMUL.

We also recommend you check out the Succeed project and watch our short videos packed with practical, down-to-earth advice and top tips from our students and staff.

Find out about the Geography Society (GeogSoc) and meet the team at the Welcome Fair for freshers on Wednesday and Thursday.

Are you new to east London? Why not join some of the fun, orientation events such as the East End Graffiti Art Walk or the Jack the Ripper Walking Tour? There will be a treasure hunt and pub quiz too where you can meet other QMUL freshers and make new friends, and lots of other activities to introduce you to the campus, the local area and London.

Download the QMUL app and save your timetable, email, QMplus and lots more in one place.

We hope you have a great time and manage to settle in quickly and we look forward to meeting you all! If you have any questions or queries, just drop by Geography Reception and we'll be happy to help!
