Time: 4:30 - 6:00pm Venue: School of Geography, Mile End campus
Delivered by Dr Lizzie Day, Teaching Fellow in Geophysics, Dept of Earth Science and Engineering, Imperial College London
Dr Lizzie Day shares her enthusiasm for all things tectonic. Her own research carried out at the University of Cambridge and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology concentrated on using seismic waves to study the Earth’s deep interior, linking these seismic observations of the Earth’s mantle and core to processes occurring deep within the earth.
Lizzie will help us to move our plate tectonic understanding up a notch and get us thinking about why some places are at greater tectonic risk than others and why some tectonic hazards develop into disasters.
All sixth formers are very welcome. Resources will be provided to take away. Teachers are welcome too.
