I completed my tertiary education in West Africa and graduated from the University of Ghana, School of Allied Health sciences. My first employment in the NHS was with Guys and St Thomas’ NHS foundation Trust. I worked there as one of their senior radiographers for 5 years.
Throughout my role as a radiographer, what I enjoyed most was impacting the knowledge I have gained over the years to others and seeing the effect it had on their confidence. In 2016 a role became available in Barts Health NHS Trust to deputise for the superintendent. I was very excited about this opportunity as it involved working very closely with the superintendent in the training of the radiographers that rotate through the dental institute. This opportunity exposed me to duties on a managerial level and it further strengthened other key skills I had such as good communication and interpersonal skills.
In 2018 I joined the lovely team of tutors in the dental institute teaching dental undergraduate and therapy students. I am looking forward to learning from the new team and also using my skills to enhance student’s development.
I am involved in both the practical and theoretical training of all levels of staff and students. I teach Dental Undergraduates, Dental Hygienists, Post Graduates, Clinicians and Radiographic Staff. As a member of a small team, we work mainly in the dental institute in Whitechapel but also we give training to students in the other satellite units. We also take part in the BDS Exams by participating in the OSCE’s and Assessments.
