The Boggling Brain is a fun and interactive workshop all about the brain run by Centre of the Cell. While the testing is going on, another scientist will visit your school to teach you all about how weird our brains are through a variety of exciting games and experiments.
You will be working with lots of scientists and researchers from lots of different universities and institutions including Queen Mary University London, University of Bedford, Kings College London, University of California, University of Edinburgh, University of Cambridge and the NHS Clinical Research Network.
CHILL stands for Children’s Health in London and Luton.
We want to find out if breathing cleaner air makes children healthier. Dirty air can be bad for our lungs and brain, and certain tests can help our scientists and researchers to see how much air pollution you have been exposed to when you breathe.
We will ask you to blow into a special machine to measure how your lungs are working. We may even ask you to play some computer games to tell us how your brain works. Also, we may collect a tiny amount of spit from your mouth with a sponge see if pollution changes how your genes work.
Next year our scientists and researchers will be back to carry out the same tests again to see how you are growing and developing.
No, it is up to you and your parents whether you choose to take part.
Only our scientists who are experts with data will look at this! They will be able to tell us all what has been found.

By taking part you will be helping our scientists and researchers to better understand how air pollution affects our bodies, and create ways to make us healthier for the future.
Of course. We have strict guidelines (like the secret number we give you when we visit) and storing all data in locked and encrypted databases, to help us keep all of your information top secret!
