The Centre for European Research (QMUL) and the Centre for Research on Direct Democracy (University of Zurich) invites you to a one-day workshop:
The one-day workshop will analyse the increasing role that direct democracy is having on the shape of European integration.
The conference will focus on three thematic issues:
1) Referendums on European Integration - speakers include Professor Andreas Auer (Zurich), Professor Sara Hobolt (LSE), Dr. Robert Saunders (QMUL), Professor Carlos Closa (Madrid)
2) Referendums on territorial reconfigurations in the EU – speakers include Professor Kenneth Armstrong (Cambridge), Professor Michael Kenny (QMUL), Dr Elisenda Casanas Adam (Edinburgh)
3) The European Citizen’s initiative – speakers include Professor Andreas Glaser (Zurich), Dr Elizabeth Monaghan (Hull), Dr Lorenz Langer (Zurich).
The conference will be followed by the launch of Referendums and the European Union: A Comparative Inquiry (Cambridge University Press, 2014).
