Frédéric Mérand (PhD, Berkeley) is Professor of Political Science and Scientific Director of CÉRIUM, the Centre for International Studies at Université de Montréal. A fellow of the College of New Scholars of the Royal Society of Canada and former visiting professor at McGill University, the University of Toronto, LUISS, and Sciences Po Paris, he specializes in the sociology of international relations, global security and European political economy. His work has been published in the Journal of Common Market Studies, the Journal of European Public Policy, International Studies Quarterly, Security Studies, Comparative European Politics, Cooperation and Conflict, and the Canadian Journal of Political Science. He has recently published Coping with Geopolitical Decline (McGill-Queen’s University Press, 2020) and The Political Commissioner: A European Ethnography (Oxford University Press, 2021).
