Profile

Dr Dorit Samuel received her PhD in Finance from the Fisher College of Business of The Ohio State University (having previously earned a DMA from the University of Minnesota) and has taught International Finance and Financial Management as well as other finance related courses at the undergraduate, MBA and Executive MBA levels in the Business School at The Ohio State University and at Capital University, where she was a tenured faculty member. Her interest has been centred on international finance, with particular emphasis on derivatives.

During the last ten years she developed a course for law students and legal professionals devoted to financial models, including derivatives, as applicable to the law. The course is designed to acquaint lawyers with fundamental concepts and models in finance. The format-one not available in a traditional MBA or business school context- approaches the material from the perspective of the law using legal cases analysing the courts' attempts to deal with difficult concepts of finance. She has taught this material as a visiting professor at Albany Law School and at the law schools at Santa Clara University, The Ohio State University, and Rutgers University-Camden. She is currently teaching at the Edinburgh University School of Law in the Postgraduate Commercial Law department. Dr Samuel also has lectured, worked and consulted for various financial organizations.
