Profile

Nikita Aggarwal is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) at Queen Mary University of London. Prior to joining CCLS she was an attorney in the legal department of the International Monetary Fund, where she advised on financial sector law reform in the Euro area and worked extensively on initiatives to reform the contractual framework for sovereign debt restructuring. She previously practiced as an associate with Clifford Chance LLP, where she specialized in EU financial regulation and sovereign debt restructuring. She earned an LLB (Hons) from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Research Interests:

Ms Aggarwal’s research interests lie at the intersection of law, finance and economics. Drawing upon her experience at the International Monetary Fund, she is currently researching avenues for reform of the international financial architecture, particularly as relates to the accountability of international financial institutions and standard setting bodies, as well as the role of soft law in international financial regulation. She is also interested in the challenges that new technologies present for the regulation of financial services.
