Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability: A Winning Combination?

Speaker: Prof Diana Cerini (Full Professor of Comparative Private Law, University of Milan Bicocca)

Prof Diana Cerini will consider the role of innovative solutions and AI systems in achieving sustainability goals. The perspective aims to consider the 'E' factor approach (environmental issues) and the 'S' factor approach (social impact). In particular, she will examine the intersections between smart cars and smart mobility, and between AI and innovation in the medical sector.

  • The EU Artificial Intelligence Act: principles and rules
  • Environmental and social sustainability: where do we stand?
  • AI sustainability goals for the environment
  • AI for social sustainability
  • Application of AI systems to intelligent cars: pros and cons

Dr Theodora A Christou (Co-Founder and Director of the Centre for Applied Sustainable Transition Law, Convener of Transnational Law and Governance at CCLS, QMUL) will make a brief intervention addressing the digitalisation of trade agenda and the link to sustainability using AI and data.
