Do you have a website or social media platform that you are already using to engage customers or start a conversation?

Social media is interactive and provides the ability to interact with others, to market and promote services and keep up with popular trends. The question is how to keep this conversation legal?

Outline of opportunities for use of social media and highlighting potential pitfalls in use of social media

  • Employees and companies – need to maintain consistent voice
  • Necessity to take responsibility for content of own website
  • Ensure ownership of content if you are a user.

Alerting to potential for criminal activity in the use of social media

  • Abuse – anonymous, quick and easy, access to wide variety of opinions worldwide, difficult to trace and prosecute
  • Trolling/cyber bullying/freedom of speech – where to draw the line?
  • Recent prosecutions for Tweets.
