21 June 2018
Time: 6:00 - 9:00pm
Venue: Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London, 67-69 Lincoln's Inn Fields, London WC2A 3JB
The Institute for Global Law, Economics and Finance is pleased to announce the launch of a series of workshops which will focus on new and existing trends in competition enforcement. The workshops will cover three themes: merger control, unilateral conduct and anticompetitive agreements. The aim of the workshops is to combine academic, practitioner and enforcement perspectives on some of the developments we see in developed and developing countries in relation to competition enforcement.
The first event in the series will take place Thursday 21st June, and will be on the topic of Common Ownership and its role on Merger Enforcement. There has been an increasing amount of groundbreaking literature on this topic, and competition authorities have started to assess common ownership in merger transactions (e.g. DowDupont). This is an area that combines a variety of perspectives and can lead to challenging considerations when it comes to merger enforcement.
The workshop will involve a short presentation by each of the speakers, followed by Q&A amongst the panelists and with the floor.
- Nick Levy, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP
- Mike Walker, Competition and Markets Authority
- Fred Ward, Olivetree Global.
