Walter Pellecchia (LLM Banking & Finance Law 2019) tells us about his work in Reed Smith LLP, following completion of his LLM.

14 January 2020

Before coming to the UK, Walter worked for 9 years in the Financial Markets team at Machado Meyer Advogados, a leading law firm in Brazil. Having started as a trainee, he progressed to the role of a Senior Lawyer. In 2018 he took a leave of absence to study at CCLS where his LLM course was sponsored by Machado Meyer.

In a joint arrangement between two law firms, Walter joined Reed Smith LLP, in November 2019, as a Senior Associate (Brazilian Qualified) of the Structured Finance team, which is part of the firm`s Financial Industry Group. Apart from regular work on transactions, mostly related to impact investment, securitisation and other debt capital market`s structured transactions, he is also working on the firm`s business development in Brazil and South America.

In his opinion, the LLM at CCLS was of high value both for the knowledge and the personal connections achieved throughout the academic year. As highlights of the year at CCLS, Walter singles out his dissertation supervision by Professor Rosa Lastra and the mentoring he received from Professor Sir William Blair via the CCLS Mentoring Programme.
