BINDER GRÖSSWANG Attorneys at Law

I graduated from QMUL in 2017 after completing an LLM in Banking & Finance Law with a strong focus on corporate and financial debt restructuring for which I achieved a distinction in my dissertation. Whilst studying, I also worked as research assistant in restructuring & insolvency for Professor Rodrigo Olivares-Caminal.

My expectations for the LLM in London were extremely high. When I arrived at the QMUL campus for the induction week, one of the welcome speakers made the following statement: “If this is not the best year of your life, then it is your own fault.” This was exactly what I wanted to hear and it kick-started an amazing, and yes, probably so far, the best year of my life. Key for this successful year were both the great academic as well as the great social opportunities at QMUL. In order to bring Austrian students in London together, I also co-founded the QMUL Austrian Society with some colleagues and also acted as President of this Society.

The LLM at QMUL opened the doors to many new opportunities. Today, I am an attorney at law in Vienna in one of the top tier Austrian commercial law firms with main focus on restructuring & insolvency. One of the main drivers for doing an LLM was my strong interest in the academic way of thinking. Because of that, I am also doing a PhD at the University of Vienna alongside my professional career, trying to bring the professional and academic worlds together.
